A Leicester teenager was struck by a hit and run driver, who left the scene.
14 year old Qais Khan was flung onto bonnet and against the windscreen on a pedestrian crossing in Chesterfield, Evington in Leicester.
The driver did not stop, but passers-bys came to the schoolboy-s aid.
The boy suffered a fracture to his knee, as well as bumps and bruises and his leg is currently in a cast, leaving him with more than a month on crutches.
His father, a 45 year old teacher said his family were disappointed with the way the police handled the situation.
According to Mr Khan, officers have told him that they followed the correct procedure by sending a letter to the owner of the vehicle to ask who was driving it at the time.
“Accidents can happen, but my son says the traffic lights were on red when he crossed the road,” Mr Khan told reporters.
The father of three is disappointed that the police have not visited the driver in person and worries that the one responsible may not answer the letter.
