Hollywood director to helm Osama Bin Laden assassination in India.
Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow is to shoot her new film, which centres on the last days of Osama Bin Laden, in Rajasthan.
The 60-year-old will be arriving in India some time this month, confirmed by cast member Jessica Chastain in an interview with a Hollywood website.
“I’ve been working on Bigelow’s movie in Jordan after the Oscars I go to India to shoot more,” she said.
Indian officials told reporters that producers are filming in Punjab state in Chandigarh and Patiala, where the director will re-create Abbotrabad, where bin Laden, his six wives and children were in hiding for more than six years.
Sources in Mumbai have claimed that Bigelow and her co-producers were unwilling to film in Pakistan because of security issues.
The film, which is currently untitled, will also star Joel Edgerton (Warrior), Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes) and Édgar Ramírez (Carlos).
It is due for release this December.
