Middle-class man arrested for forcing daughter to beg on streets for getting poor grades.
A wealthy man has been arrested after police found his daughter begging for gaining bad school grades.
Prakash was arrested under the juvenile misuse act after the twelve-year-old girl was seen begging outside a temple in Mysore in her uniform.
The father, who was later released on bail, told police that he didn’t punish her physically and only “wanted her to realise how tough life is without a proper education.”
The girl, who is currently placed in a government child-welfare centre, was found by a passerby on the busy Mysore street.
When asked why she was begging, the girl pointed to her father, who was sitting in a nearby car watching her.
An angry crowd gathered and forced him out of the car to be taken to a nearby police station.
Mysore’s deputy commissioner of police, Basvaraj Malagatti, quoted the man as saying, “I have not beaten her or punished her physically.
“I just wanted her to realise how tough life is without proper education
