The Young People’s Achievement Award 2013, organised by Community Foundation to recognise and celebrate the achievements of young people in the community will take place at 6:00pm on Tuesday 22nd October 2013 at the Royal Suite Banqueting Palace in Perry Barr. Bob Jones, the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner will be attending as the chief guest, along with Senior Council Officers and local Councillors to give out the awards to the winners for each of the seven categories.
Following the success of last year’s Student Achievement Awards, additional award categories have been added to recognise other achievements made by young people who have strived hard to achieve great results in the field of social, recreational, educational, and in employment.
Nozmul Hussain, the Chief Executive of Community Foundation said: “We have been overwhelmed with the number of nominations that have been put forwarded by colleges, employers, youth organisations and sporting bodies for the seven award categories. A large number of the nominations were very good and some were outstanding, which no doubt will make it a difficult task for the judges to choose between them.
He added: “As a community we often fail to recognise positive contributions by young people.
This Award ceremony has been developed to build up their confidence, to inspire them and to assist them achieve much more. The outstanding achievement by a good number of Young People is a clear indication that giving the the right support and encouragement we can bring the best out of them.”
