Sandwich brand Subway is set to open its latest store at New Square West Bromwich on Wednesday 4 December 2013.

 The new store has had £200k invested into its development and its opening will create 15 full and 10 part-time jobs locally.

The store will be one of the first Subways in the UK to be designed to the chain’s new Metropolitan Décor, which has been devised to enhance the brand, making it a more upscale customer experience.

It will open its doors for the first time at 7am on Wednesday 4December and, alongside opening offers for its first customers, there will be free tasters from the Subway menu for anyone who comes along on the day.

The franchise will be run by local businessman Johnny Khag who was born and raised on Alfred Street, which now makes up part of the New Square site.  Johnny set up as a Subway franchisee in 2005 and, with the opening at New Square, will now run seven stores (four in Wolverhampton and two in Walsall). After graduating in Business and Finance he also previously worked for NEC Group as a Catering Manager in Solihull, and as a General Manager for Welcome Break.

Subway Group has also recently co-funded funded The Active Albion project, a new programme ran through The Albion Foundation to promote healthy eating and exercise in primary schools across the area.

New Square currently sees an average of 70,000 visitors each week, over 1,350,000 since it opened in July 2013.  Schuh and H&M will shortly joining the line up of New Square stores, with opening dates to be announced shortly.

Johnny Khag, Subway New Square franchisee comments: “I’m so excited at the thought of opening another Subway on the site of my childhood home, where I have so many fantastic memories.  The arrival of New Square has brought with it a demand for freshly made food, which we hope to fill with Subway’s arrival, as well as creating jobs and income for the local community.
