British Asians that are being noticed in the cricketing circuit is on an all-time high with Mark Ramprakash being the most recent recruit by the England Cricket Board (ECB). Over the past 12 months Moeen Ali has made huge inroads in becoming an England regular despite his appearance concerning some, Wasim Khan has been appointed CEO of Leicestershire County Cricket Club making him the first black or Asian to get the role and now Ramprakash succeeds England legend Graham Gooch as the nation’s batting coach after successful stints with the Lions team and a period with the first team.
Paul Downton, the ECB’s managing director, said ‘I am delighted to have appointed Mark. During his time with both the Lions and the senior team he has proved a valuable addition to the coaching group. Mark has formed excellent relationships with players and a strong partnership with Peter Moore’s and the management team and I have no doubt he will continue to have a positive impact’. Ramprakash said: “I am hugely excited by this and I’m looking forward to building on the relationships I’ve established during the summer.
