The father of Slumdog Millionaire star Anil Kapoor, who has produced a range of popular Bollywood films, has passed away.
Surinder Kapoor, 86, died on the 24th September at his home in Andheri, after suffering a huge cardiac arrest.
Reports say that the heart attack came after he came back from an evening walk.
He had a glass of water after the walk and when he was untying his shoe laces, he suffered the stroke and died.
Amitabh Buchchan was one of the few stars who paid their tributes to the celebrated producer.
In his blog, he said, “Just heard the sad news that Anil and Boney Kapoor’s father passed away.
Mr Surinder Kapoor, a kind hearted and affable man, a producer of eminence in his own right, passes away.”
Mr Kapoor is the father of Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, most famous for his role in Kal Ho Na Ho.
The vetran was famed for producing films like Hum Paanch, Who Saat Din, Loafer, Judaai and Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai.
He was also the president of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India from 1995 to 2001.
