Trust Raj Kumar Hirani to continue to maintain excitement around his latest offering P.K. The release of teasing posters today where Aamir stands in a buff only holding an old version of tape recorder has become the talk of the town. In a very subtle manner what Raj Kumar and Hirani have underlined in context of the visual medium called cinema is that nothing succeeds and sells like nudity so An Aamir Khan in a buff.
The paradigms of film making in India has been flirting for quite some time with nudity, and in one way or the other it has been titillating and enticing the audience and Aamir Khan has taken the first monumental step forward from a male perspective in this direction through this teaser of P.K. While the expression on the poster reminds one of a subtle reference from the past from a film called TERMINATOR-2, the Indianness of the same has been attained perhaps by positioning the character on a railway line, the life line of India where apart from daily movements of people and goods, it also serves as point for daily ablutions.
The premise of nudity has been perhaps utilized owing to the fact that it is nudity that is selling, be it a Sunny Leone or a Poonam Pandey, whenever they have flirted with nudity it has become a talk of the town, so why not an Aamir Khan as well! After all, it has been quite a long time that one continues to be presented with a female nudity through the medium of cinema and time has perhaps come to flirt with male nudity as well! For an Aamir Khan, nearing 50 years of age to flirt with nudity through PK indeed is going to be a clarion call for quite a lot of male brethren in the country. How they take to it would be an aspect to watch out for, one thing is for sure the ogle factor that has been subtly underlined through this teaser of P.K. would ensure female footfall when P.K. releases in the theatres. For the world of Hindi cinema, it is a major step forward as it seems to be shedding suggestiveness and internalizing and underlining bluntness on the matter. Raj Kapoor indeed would be mightily pleased with this development and Salman Khan could also take some inspiration as he was in a way responsible for spreading and consolidating the idea of upper torso nudity and Aamir has taken it to new levels through PK.
