Air India has launched their new flights from Birmingham international airport in spectacular fashion with a colourful and lively event with Bollywood dancing and India feyer on offer to guests.
Air India services were stopped in October 2008 as the recession took hold. When in 2009, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner made its first flight showing that the aircraft industry could rise to the challenge of ever increasing fuel costs by using fewer pounds of fuel per passenger mile; Air India revaluated its flights from Birmingham.
After a lengthy campaign by supporters of Birmingham’s business community, Air India restarted its routes using two new aircrafts the first of which took its inaugural flight in August 2013.
“The route firmly established Birmingham airport and the region as a mini hub for European passenger and cargo connectivity. Giving easy access to local people and businesses, as well as an important window onto the east,” said Uday K Dholakia, Brand Ambassador at Birmingham Airport.
Asian World spoke to Mr Singh the regional manager of Air India at the ICC launch for the new Air India flights from Birmingham international who told us how excited he was about returning to B’ham airport. He said “we have so far received a great response in regard to bookings for the new flights, and we will be analysing the success if it goes really well we will consider adding new destinations.”
It seems the sky’s the limits for Air India and its future flying from Birmingham airport.
