India’s agriculture minister was slapped across the face by an angry man for rising food prices and corruption.
Sharad Pawar was talking to reporters at a political event when the man assaulted him.
According to news reports, the attacker shouted slogans about inflated food prices and graft and footage showed him brandishing a knife as he was dragged away by security.
“Don’t you know why I hit him? The common man is distressed. Am I wrong?” he shouted as he was taken away.
The man also added that the Indian government must develop an anti-graft law, which is being considered by law makers.
The attacker was detained by police, while Mr Pawar suffered no harm.
