How the date went..
By Aneesa Malik
Asian World had the pleasure of hosting “Date a Star” with world-renowned artist and performer, Sama Blake. Two gorgeous young ladies had the opportunity to meet their dream date, get whisked away in chauffeur driven vehicle to a lavish restaurant for a complementary, elaborate meal. This was followed by a glamorous makeover and photo shoot with the man himself, where the ladies could get to know Sama on a personal note. Let’s catch up with Sama and the girls find out how the date went!
“It felt absolutely amazing knowing that I have so many dedicated fans, and the fact that these ladies travelled so far to come and meet me today, it really does mean a lot. Similar to the girls, I was so excited and nervous about coming here today, but I really enjoyed myself. When you engage in events like this and really get a chance to sit down and speak to your fans, all your hard work seems to pay off. I would definitely try this again.”
Both girls argued that they were Sama Blake’s biggest fan, so it would seem cruel to deny either of them this fantastic opportunity. Having sat down with them, both contended why they deserved to meet Sama.
The first arrival was Aqeelah Sajad, who is 20-years-old and an aspiring model. She is currently at University of Central Birmingham studying Tourism and Business Management. After completing her degree she is planning on becoming an air hostess.
When Aqeelah isn’t studying she is on YouTube listening to Sama Blake. When his first single came out she fell in love with it and listens to his music religiously since that first single. She thoroughly believes Sama is a great singer. She elaborated: “There are other performers that are much better at singing, but his lyrics are amazing, he is one of the best. He is just totally different. Sama talks about his personal experiences and that is what I like about him.”
Adamant that she is Sama’s number one fan, Aqeelah argued: “I am more devoted than any other girl that claims to be a fan. I appreciate his work more than others. I think I will be able to outshine them all.”
“It was so lovely to finally meet him in person. When he first came in I was excited and a bit scared because I didn’t know what to expect. I had a great time with him. I finally got to know him better, personally. Hopefully he liked me too,” Aqeelah said positively after the meeting. But she didn’t leave without telling her dream date that she wants him to release a sad song in his next album!
Stood alongside Aqeelah was 28-year-old Jumara Begum, who travelled all the way from London to meet her inspiration.
Disputing Aqeelahs claims that she was Sama’s biggest fan; Jumera explained that she is the biggest fan. She boldly stated: “Sama is incredible, his lyrics appeal directly to me. I love him a lot. I listen to him every minute of the day, on full blast. His music and lyrics are totally unique.”
“Meeting him was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so grateful that I was chosen. I was so excited; I was jumping up and down after he left. He was so chilled and down to earth; he is not what I expected. I can go home with a smile on my face.”
