Shabir Hussain’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the British Asian food industry, which he transformed through his passion, vision, and dedication. His remarkable contributions to the restaurant and food industry have left an indelible mark, and his loss is deeply felt across the entire community.
On behalf of the Asian food industry, the Asian Food and Restaurant Awards (AFRA) extend their heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. We pray for Allah’s mercy upon his soul and strength for his family during this incredibly difficult time.
In honour of Shabir Hussain’s legacy, the 9th Asian Food and Restaurant Awards, taking place on Monday, 2nd December 2024 at Royal Ascot, will be officially dedicated to his life, achievements, and enduring contributions to the industry. A special tribute will be held during the ceremony to commemorate his hard work, vision, and the impact he made on the world of Asian cuisine in Britain.
Shabir Hussain was not only a pioneer but also a role model for many in the industry. In previous years, AFRA has recognised his incredible achievements by awarding him the Curry King of the Year, Role Model of the Year, and Restaurant Group of the Year— all titles he truly deserved. Just last year, he attended the 8th AFRA ceremony at the Montcalm Hotel in London, creating unforgettable memories that will remain in our hearts forever.
