The mastermind behind one of the biggest companies in the world passed away earlier this month.

Steve Jobs, who created the iPhone, iPad and iPod, died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, aged just 56.

‘We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today,’ read a statement by Apple’s board of directors.

‘Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve” it also added.

Barack Obama paid tribute to the innovator in a statement. He said, ‘The world has lost a visionary and there may be no greater tribute to Steve’s success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented.

Mr Jobs found the company in his garage in California 1976, with the help of his friends Steve Woznial, Ronald Wayne and Mike Makkula.

After power struggles and poor sales, he left the company in 1985, but returned eleven years later.

With a new ethos of team-work, co-operation and perfectionism, his return saw the company grow from strength to strength.

From 1998’s iMac, Apple has developed some of the most remarkable products in the technology, including the iPod, which allows the user to store 1,000 songs.
