International megastar Akshay Kumar has melted fans’ hearts on social media with a touching dedication for his sister as he begins shooting for Aanand L Rai’s highly anticipated film ‘Raksha Bandhan’.
‘Raksha Bandhan’, which will also star Bhumi Pedneka, is being billed as a special tale which celebrates “relationships in the most beautiful way”.
A dedicated family man, Akshay Kumar has never been one to shy away from expressing his love for those closest to him. His sister, Alka Bhatia, is one person he has always been close with and he took to social media to declare her his ‘first friend’.
He posted: “Growing up my sister, Alka was my friend. It was the most effortless friendship. @aanandlrai’s #RakshaBandhan is a dedication to her and a celebration of that special bond. Day one of shoot today, need your love and best wishes. @bhumipednekar #AlkaHiranandani”
‘Raksha Bandhan’ reunites Akshay Kumar with Bhumi after their smash-hit Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. It also feature four new faces, ‘Shikara’ actor Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna and Smrithi Srikanth, who play Kumar’s sisters. The film is penned by writer couple Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon.
Although ‘Raksha Bandhan’ will be released at a later date, fans will not have to wait too long to see their favourite star on the silver screen again! This includes upcoming releases of highly anticipated films such as Bell Bottom in cinemas on 27th July, Sooryavanshi, Bachchan Pandey and Prithviraj.
