We are delighted to announce The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT) is now smoke free for staff, as of today!

Support for patients and visitors is in development ahead of a totally smoke free Trust in October 2020.

David Loughton CBE, Chief Executive for the Trust, said: “As a healthcare organisation we have a duty to protect our employees, and those in our care, from preventable illness.

“We know that smoking contributes heavily to both cancer and cardiovascular disease, and that second hand smoke can exacerbate many existing health conditions; it is therefore important to remove these risks.

“A smoke-free Trust will mean a safer and more pleasant environment for staff, patients and visitors, and we’ll be sure to support those individuals who wish to use this as an opportunity to stop smoking for good.”

Support for smokers will be advertised in the Trust’s weekly email bulletin, while staff members wanting to ditch cigarettes completely can access free resources via the NHS’ One You website.

Staff should speak to their line manager for more information and to gain access to our smoke free FAQ’s / Smoke Free Policy.
