De facto leader of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi, is to be stripped of the Freedom of the City of Oxford over her response to the Rohingya crisis.
Aung San Suu Kyi won a Nobel peace prize in 1991 when she led Myanmar’s opposition, but her lack of action in response to the plight of Rohingya Muslims has garnered a lot of criticism recently. In an unprecedented move, Oxford City Council have decided to remove her honour and will be confirming this next month.
