Birmingham pronunciation positioned LEAST appealing in the UK – and even Wolverhampton is higher
A positioning of the 50, hottest accents in the UK has uncovered Essex is the most liked
While it might be adequate for Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders, the Brum accent has been cast as the least attractive in the nation.
Furthermore, just to make it more shameful, the Wolverhampton accent has put five spots higher in the rundown.
The ranking has also affirmed that Essex is the most appealing accent according to Brits up and down the country.
Clearly, a few dialects are more saucy than others – and in the UK there’s an incredible 56 perceived accents, as indicated by research.
Presently, organisation Big 7 Travel has done some burrowing over the twangs Brits love (and are attracted to).
Tragically, it doesn’t make generally excellent perusing for Brum.
It comes in at number 50 out of a positioning of hottest – and least hottest – twangs in the UK.
Indeed, even Wolverhampton positions higher, the survey says.
The survey positioned the Essex accent in the lead position, the Northern Irish articulation as second, Glaswegian as third and Queen’s English as fourth, with Mancunian coming fifth in front of the Scouse style of speaking at 6th.
Geordie was seventh, and South Wales eighth, in front of Yorkshire in ninth, and Cockney, which finished off the best ten.
Birmingham came 50th, with Wolverhampton at 46th.
Close-by Coventry came in ten spots closer to the top.
