Every year during the Auspicious time of Vaisakhi, the Sikh community congregate at their local
Gurdwara and participate in a Nagar Kirtan where they know they will feel the power of their eternal
Guru, Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the human connection with sangat and the blessings of seva.
However, this year, is like no other… This year, Sikhs will be making history by celebrating the first
ever digital Vaisakhi.
The Coronavirus pandemic over the past weeks has been a force of destruction on humankind that
has never been seen in our generation. Our governments are instructing us to all stay home to prevent
the spread of this deadly disease and help save lives. It is still unknown how long it will continue, which
means that Vaiskahi as we know it will be very different.
Sikhs have been requested to pray at home with family and not to partake in outdoor activities.
Therefore, with everyone staying in their homes to keep the world safe, which is arguably also seva,
the Sikh community will be celebrating the world’s first ever digital Vaisakhi.
With this in mind, the Motherhood Team have been working hard to create their final Teaser of their
up-coming 3D animation movie titled Motherhood: The Journey of Mata Sahib Kaur – Watch on
YouTube. This movie is closely linked to the Khalsa panth father Guru Gobind Singh and mother Mata
Sahib Kaur and the team hopes that the teaser will spark feelings of connection and provide
reassurance that no matter where Sikhs are on Vaisakhi day, they can feel the warmth and comfort of
their eternal mother.
Motherhood: The Journey of Mata Sahib Kaur movie is the first ever Seva project attempted by the
Sikh sangat without any commercial gain. The team have spent the last 2 years tirelessly fundraising
and volunteering their skills to help get it ready to Showcase on Cinema Screens worldwide for
everyone to enjoy watching an untold epic life story of Mata Sahib Kaur who led the Khalsa panth for
40 years after Guru Gobind Singh.
The movie Director, Dr Karandeep Singh says “This Vaisakhi, let’s embrace modern technology to reach
out to Sikhs worldwide so we can celebrate together. This Teaser will connect millions of Sikhs
worldwide”.
Wherever you are on Vaisakhi day 2020 we hope you are healthy and will take a moment to watch a
snippet of history that connects you with thousands of Sikhs who will be watching from their homes
during a worldwide lockdown.
We thank you for your time and pray for you and your family during this pandemic. Stay Safe!
