In June 2024, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will begin operating its first nonstop flights between Singapore and London’s Gatwick Airport. This is the airline’s most recent announcement for 2024. A350-900 aircraft are going to be used for the long-haul variant. With 42 seats in Business class, 24 in Premium Economy class, and 187 in Economy class, the A350-900 has 253 seats spread across three cabin classes.  

A350-900 will offer services five times a week. On Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, flight SQ310 will be in operation. The inaugural flight is scheduled to take off on June 21, 2024, at 2355hrs local time from Singapore to Gatwick Airport, arriving in London on June 22, 2024, at 0625hrs local time.

Regarding the return flights, Gatwick Airport will host flight SQ309 to Singapore on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. On June 22, 2024, at 1015hrs (local time), the inaugural return flight will take off, and on June 23, 2024, it will arrive in Singapore at 0620hrs. Customers who arrive early in the morning will have the opportunity to connect to flights operated by SIA and Scoot that travel to locations in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.

Acting Senior Vice President of Marketing Planning at Singapore Airlines, Mr. Dai Haoyu, stated, “London has always been a very important market for the Singapore Airlines Group. With the introduction of this new service to London’s Gatwick Airport, Singapore Airlines’ customers will have an additional flight to choose from when flying between Singapore and the UK. It also opens up additional travel options to other points in Europe and the Asia- Pacific region.”

The London Gatwick Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Stewart Wingate, declared, “Renowned as one of the world’s best carriers, we are delighted to welcome Singapore Airlines to London Gatwick. It showcases the high regard in which Gatwick is held and connecting to the impressive Changi Airport is a big boost for the whole region. For passengers across London and the South East, the new route will provide huge connectivity potential not only to the fantastic destination of Singapore, but more widely across South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand. With significant increases in trade between the UK and Singapore in recent years the service also provides exciting opportunities for local and regional businesses.”

We can observe that the gateway to exploring the nation’s capital and the South East of England is London’s Gatwick Airport. Additionally, the airport provides transport services into central London, with trains taking passengers directly to major hubs like London Bridge, London Blackfriars, St. Pancras International, London Victoria, and City Thameslink.

As a result, the SIA network will have more European destinations thanks to Gatwick. After a seamless journey, visitors from Singapore will appreciate the UK’s stunning cities.
