DENTIST ANIKA WALIA WINS A PLACE IN THE MISS ENGLAND GRAND FINAL

Anika Walia, age 23 who is currently a dentist has now won a place in the Miss 

England Grand Final. Anika has set up her own charity called AFC which stands 

for Anika’s food charity. 

 

Anika has also won the title of Miss Charity Queen in the Miss England semi-finals, 

being the contestant who has raised the most funds for charity so far. She 

has raised over £4000 for Beauty With A Purpose Charity which helps disadvantaged 

children worldwide. 

 

She has also founded her own charity called Anika Food Charity (AFC, registration 

no: 1180069). Anika Food Charity is also her Beauty With A Purpose project 

for Miss England. Through her charity, she has been able to provide for underprivileged 

children and families by distributing food, and other basic necessities 

(such as quilts, blankets, sanitary kits, sleeping bags etc ) to homeless families, 

refugees, homeless individuals, asylum seekers, suicide attempt victims and domestic 

violence sufferers.

 

She also provides the necessary support and counselling 

to help them. She has also provided classes to help people rehabilitate back 

into society such as CV writing classes and cooking classes. On average, she delivers 

to over 120-150 people every week. She has also raised funds for underprivileged 

children in India, for their educational costs and dental and medical 

checkup and treatment fees. she has also organised several workshops in the 

slum areas of India for children and women on menstrual hygiene, diet, dental 

hygiene and hygiene. She has also taken English classes and taught the children 

there. In the past, she has raised funds for both Marie Curie and WOHAA charities 

(over £1,500). 

 

One of AFC’s upcoming projects is to install a sanitary pad making machine near 

Faridabad city, Haryana state, India to provide the poor women there with employment 

and a means to take care of their menstrual hygiene. 

 

Anika says “Through my Beauty With A Purpose project, I make it my mission to 

empower others to achieve equality and the right to live with dignity and self-esteem. 

If I had the opportunity to win the title of Miss England, it will provide me 

with a platform to advocate for social causes that I truly believe in and be a voice 

for the voiceless”. 

 

The Gainford Group based in Newcastle are the 2019 hosts for the contest as the 

reigning Miss England Alisha Cowie is a former Miss Newcastle! In association 

with Mauritius Tourism, the contest will be held over a 2day period with a series 

of different rounds for the contestants to compete in. The final will take place in 

the two day contest on 31st July & 1st August in the City of Newcastle. 

 

Alisha was the very first Miss Newcastle to represent England at Miss World . Alisha 

has just returned from a luxury holiday in Mauritius after she was invited as 

a special guest at the World Travel Awards on the paradise island. 

 

Over the last 12 years, Miss England has continued to change with the times and 

banned the swimwear parade back in 2009, before Miss America ever did . Director 

of Miss England Angie Beasley recently launched the BARE FACE TOP 

MODEL round in Miss England , where contestants are invited to post photos of 

themselves with no make up which has made international news .

 

Fascia Models International are scouting for new faces at the Miss England final. 

The contest also has an Ethical Fashion round & with this years theme 

#WEARITGREEN to promote recycling. The contestants are invited to create 

themselves and outfit from recycled materials & clothing for the catwalk, participate 

in a Sports round and raise funds using the contest ethos Beauty with a Purpose 

. There are other exciting rounds like a Stages Miss Beautiful Hair contest , 

a talent round and a general knowledge quiz ! 

 

MISS ENGLAND IS BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE – £50k already raised in 2019 ! 

Two Miss England semi finals held in the Midlands this year have raised in excess 

of £20k for the CHILDRENS CANCER & LEUKAEMIA charity & HOPE 

AGAINST CANCER & almost £30 for the Papyrus Suicide Prevention charity in 

the Midlands North and South semi finals . Alisha Cowie is an ambassador for the 

the Papyrus charity and has appeared on the BBC Breakfast talking about how 

the suicide of her best friend affected her when she was just aged 14 and the 

harmful affects of social media can have on youngsters today, one of the reasons 

for launching the new no make up round in the contest. 

 

The Grand final of Miss England is supporting the Chronicle Sunshine fund which 

helps disabled youngsters as this is the nominated charity for Miss Newcastle . 

Finalists in the Newcastle heat already raised a record breaking £30,000 for the 

charity this year. 

 

Miss England has raised over £500k in the last 10 years for deserving charities

54 women from across the country will be taking part from the initial 20k entries 

received over the last 12 months! 

 

The winner will represent England at Miss World and win a Luxury Holiday to 

Mauritius & a wardrobe of dresses to take to Miss World from Ellie Wilde at Mon 

Cheri , a Photo shoot and portfolio and own personalised website & more.
