Within the first couple of weeks of lockdown it was reported by the Food Foundation that 1.5 million people in the UK were not eating for a whole day as they had no money or access to food. The situation is getting worse for many more now as they are losing their jobs and their financial stability.
We are getting food boxes to food banks in Birmingham for the next few weeks. The boxes contain all the things you need for two different veggie meals, 8 servings of food that can be eaten fresh, chilled or frozen. The boxes include the ingredients and the recipe and instructions on how to make the meals. The food is nutritious, healthy and hearty and will fill people’s bellies. Can you help us get food on the table for more Birmingham people?
We already have enough money for 617 boxes for food banks in Erdington, Smethwick and Kingfisher but a lot more people than that need help. We need to raise more money fast. Could you ask people to text VEGMEALS to 70085 to donate £5 and get dinner on the table for people across Birmingham? Or they can donate on our website www.vegsoc.org/foodbank
You can find out more about our project here www.vegsoc.org/foodbank and here’s a little video about the boxes https://youtu.be/4Tq6OQlVAQo |
