A special town grant has been awarded to Tividale Academy to help them to increase access to sport, mentoring, physical and social development for young girls.
Academy staff believe that this could help to increase health, fitness and education and to raise aspirations of young people and adults.
Staff at Tividale Academy will be delivering a minimum of 40 weeks of football over the project duration. The sessions will be for 2 hours per week and will be targeted at four to 12-year-old girls.
The £3,832 grant has contributed to set-up costs for the project – including pitch hire fees and the purchase of equipment.
The grant will also pay for coaching expertise and for FA emergency aid courses.
Councillor Sharon Davies, town chair for Oldbury, said: “This is a great scheme to increase the number of young people involved in a range of sporting activities.
“Under this scheme will will be able to get expert guidance to improve their skills and their health levels.”
