UK-based humanitarian charity, Muslim Aid is providing urgently needed emergency aid to families affected by the conflict in Gaza. Representatives from the charity, which has been providing both emergency and long-term aid to the area for over 15 years, are on the ground now, providing food packs and hygiene kits, as well as medical supplies and equipment to injured people and families in need of emergency support.
Muslim Aid’s emergency food parcels will provide over 500 households with enough food to last them a month, meaning that the whole family will have access to nutritious meals. The households will also be provided with hygiene kits, which provide all of the essentials needed for families to practice good hygiene. This is especially important in light of the COVID-19 situation in the area, as Gaza has recently battled a surge in infection rates.
Abu Akeem, Muslim Aid’s Head of International Programmes says: More than 2 million Palestinians are in need of humanitarian aid and have very little access to basic requirements, such as food and hygiene essentials. Having already faced more than 15 years of blockades and hardships, they are in desperate need of humanitarian support. Muslim Aid’s Global Emergency projects provide immediate emergency aid and assistance to people living in crisis. With our extensive experience of operating in Gaza, we will continue responding to the critical needs of those affected by the violence, providing immediate relief to families and individuals who have been injured or who are in need of increased support.
