The UK Government is introducing a three tiered system of local COVID Alert Levels in England from Wednesday 14 October. What this means for our servicesThe three local alert levels do not affect our heavy vehicle testing service. This means we can continue to test heavy goods vehicles (HGV) and public service vehicles (PSVs) in a way which is safe for everyone. When you should get your vehicle testedWe’re continuing to manage testing demand using the planned exemptions. You should only book your vehicle in for its test when the MOT is due. This will make sure that tests aren’t booked when they’re not needed and vehicles and trailers which legally need a test can get one. Thank you for continuing to follow COVID-safe testing procedures to help ensure your safety and the safety of ATF and DVSA staff. The latest government guidance to stop the spread of coronavirus is available on GOV.UK. You should continue to manage the regular maintenance and inspection schedule for your vehicles and trailers during the exemption period. This is a legal requirement under your operator’s licence. Vocational testsDVSA vocational theory and practical test services will not be affected by the additional restrictions. Tests will continue to go ahead as planned and the booking service will remain open. Enforcement activityWe will continue our enforcement work to protect you from unsafe drivers and vehicles on our roads. We’ll also continue to work remotely to support drivers and operators to follow guidance and legislation and, where appropriate, improve their driver and vehicle safety standards. We’re grateful to you for the vital role you’re playing in transporting goods at this challenging time. What happens nextWe continue to monitor the situation and will let you know if anything changes. |
