A number of big name drivers, designers, authors, artists and industry figures will be part of the world’s first Motoring Literary & Art Festival to be held in The Wing at Silverstone on December 2-3.
With three theatres, 27 sessions, approaching 50 speakers, including 10 drivers, six designers, 14 authors, five leading industry figures and an exhibitor list that numbers 40 so far, the Festival is accelerating hard.
Personalities include Lord Hesketh, Andy Wallace, Ian Callum, John Watson, Peter Stevens, Dr Andy Palmer, Lee McKenzie, Sir John Egan, Karun Chandhok, Jackie Oliver, Mike Wilds and Keith Helfet. They will be joined by authors James Page, Richard Heseltine, Crispian Besley, Mark Cole, Damien Smith, Paul Griffin, Serge Vanbockryck, Matthew Field and Ajay Chowdhury.
Mark Stewart is screening his superb feature-length film Stewart of his father, Sir Jackie, whose Race Against Dementia is the event’s charity partner.
Subjects range from the future of the auto industry to cheats in motor racing, from the 2023 F1 season to crime, from “blowing the bloody doors off” to the all-conquering Porsche 956s and 962s, from the greatest car film debate to the Jaguar XJR-15, from the business of going fast to when history is not the full story, from James Bond to Lord Hesketh…
Land Rover enthusiasts will have several sessions they should not miss, including the Ives brothers, the only British Camel Trophy winners, and restorer Julian Shoolheifer in conversation with award-winning author Martin Port.
Many of the UK’s leading motoring artists will be dominating the exhibitor halls and rubbing shoulders with book sellers, photograph vendors, automobilia specialists and a number of publishers including the organisers, Porter Press International.
