A second man has been charged with murder following a robbery at a Dudley cannabis farm that ended with two men being fatally shot with a crossbow. Omar Ramzan, from Pensnett Road in Brierley Hill, was arrested on Monday in connection with the deaths of 19-year-old Khuzaimah Douglas and Waseem Ramzan, aged 36.
The 23-year-old was charged with two counts of murder and he is set to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today. His father, 46-year-old Saghawat Ramzan, is currently remanded in prison having already been charged with the murders. The latest development saw a 21-year-old man arrested by officers who stopped a VW Sirocco in North Place Dudley at 6pm. He is now in police custody for questioning about the cannabis farm robbery. A 23-year-old man from Weoley Castle was arrested in Birmingham at 3pm yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to rob and he remains in police custody. And a 32-year-old man from Brierley Hill arrested on Monday on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed while enquiries progress. We have already charged a 19-year-old man with conspiracy to burgle and perverting the course of justice. He’s now in prison on remand. Detective Chief Inspector Jim Munro, from the force’s homicide team, said: “This is a fast-moving investigation and we are making significant progress on a daily basis with more arrests and charges, “We are continuing to work around the clock on this case and would encourage anyone who may have information and who’s not yet contacted us to please get in touch.” Two other men aged 21 and 23 had previously been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob and a 42-year-old for assisting an offender. They have all been released on police bail. Dudley Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Sally Bourner, added: “The swift progress we’re making on this case reflects our commitment to tackling violence in the borough. “Our police patrols continue in the area around Pensnett Road in order to provide a visible reassurance. In the longer term we are working with partners including the council, health, education and charities to tackle violent crime and the root causes of violence.”
