Residents and businesses in Birmingham are being encouraged to get on their bikes throughout September.
The city council is supporting Cycle September, run by cycling platform Love to Ride to promote the benefits of cycling.
People can log their bike trips on the Love to Ride app and win prizes and anyone can take part.
Cllr Majid Mahmood, cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Whether you’re a keen cyclist, never cycled before or just occasionally hop on your bike to go to the park, you can join in.
“And it isn’t just about September or wining some prizes; it is a great opportunity to have a go at cycling and try out some of the excellent facilities in Birmingham. We have great cycle routes in parks, dedicated cycle lanes for those who want to commute and there are lots of opportunities to go on group rides.”
There are many options in Birmingham including traffic-free cycling on canal towpaths and in parks, dedicated lanes and on quieter roads.
There are cycling activities including led rides, clubs to join and opportunities for adults to learn. And children can gain essential skills through the Bikeability programme.
Details of cycling opportunities can be found on the council website cycling pages.
