In addition to memorial services at Christ Church and St. Peter’s Church, several other events took place this weekend to honor the memory of 12-year-old Leo Ross. One such event was held on Saturday night (January 25) at the Community Plaza in Birmingham’s Youth Hub in Bordesley Green.
The event was led by Mohammed Zafran, a Pride of Birmingham winner who has helped over 43,000 young people turn away from knife crime following the tragic murder of his 24-year-old brother-in-law, Sarfraz Khan. More than 100 people attended the gathering, including members of the Romanian community, accompanied by Romanian activist Julian Nistor.
Julian commented: “We lost young Leo at such a tender age in a tragic way, and nobody deserves to lose their life like this.”
“We need all communities to get together and introduce an environment in which youths are in a safe place and to make youths realise the impact carrying a knife has on their life and other people’s lives.”
