Naz Choudhury an entrepreneur originally from London but now based in Dubai has announced that he is considering parting with one of the UK’s most iconic personalised number plates, “1 NAS ”, a plate deeply linked to boxing legend Prince Naseem Hamed.

Naz first met Prince Naseem Hamed around 2007, forming a mutual respect and connection rooted in culture, success and individuality. In 2010, Naz went on to purchase the 1 NAS number plate directly from Prince Naseem himself a piece of British sporting and cultural history that has remained firmly in Naz’s possession ever since.

“It’s one of those things that means a lot to someone,” says Naz. “Over the years I’ve been approached even by buyers from Qatar but I never felt ready to let it go.”

Despite repeated interest and international enquiries, Naz chose to keep the plate for over a decade, viewing it as more than just an asset. However, with renewed global attention on Prince Naseem Hamed including the release of the highly anticipated film GIANT, which has reignited public fascination with his extraordinary career Naz feels the timing is finally right.

“Prince Naseem is having a real resurgence. His legacy is being rediscovered by a new generation. For the right buyer, this isn’t just a number plate it’s an investment, a statement, and a piece of history.”

The 1 NAS plate has recently attracted offers in the region of £600,000, reflecting both its rarity and its association with one of Britain’s most flamboyant and celebrated sporting icons.

While acknowledging that it is “a hell of a lot of money,” Naz emphasises that the plate will only be sold to a buyer who truly understands its cultural and legacy value.

“The right buyer will see this for what it is not just prestige, but provenance.”
