Sandwell Libraries & Archives are thrilled to announce a line-up of Live at the Library events.
The programme has a range of both musical and theatrical productions which run throughout February and March across local libraries in Sandwell.
Hugely talented music combo Tipitina will be making a return visit to the Midlands on Saturday 1 February. The show at Central Library, West Bromwich, will feature New Orleans boogie, barrelhouse and gospel music, with the soulful voice of Debbie Jones and backing from pianist Justin Randall.
On the same evening the Friends of Thimblemill Library in Smethwick will be hosting Native Harrow and Ali Sparrow who promise us an evening of folk rock music with shades of Joni Mitchell hits.
Thursday 20 February will be the curtain-raiser for all theatre buffs when Thimblemill Library hosts the Odd Doll theatre group’s production, Seaside Terror. Odd Doll will be using their trademark brew of puppetry, clown and specially-composed music to fill the stage with nerve-shattering shocks.
Following on from last year’s success, the 2020 Sandwell Libraries & Archives Literature Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, as this year we are thrilled to announce Roger Ellory, Mike Gayle and Joanna Toye among our growing line-up. The festival will run from 14 to 28 March and offers a mix of author talks, local history fayres, live music and theatre.
Cabinet member Councillor Bob Lloyd said: “The libraries have come up with a very diverse selection of musical and theatrical events to bring a little joy to us in the winter months.
“I would urge people to get out and about to enjoy some lovely music, admire the skills of actors or laugh along with the comedians.”
Details of all the events are available at the Discover Sandwell and Sandwell Libraries Online Services websites.
