Priyanka says she isn’t politically minded, but she and hubby Nick Jonas want to make a change
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra claims she is not fond of politics, but she is definitely up for anything that will help to bring about a positive change in people’s lives. In her world, that includes even running for candidacy as the next Prime Minister of India.
Indeed, Narinder Modi may soon have a new rival on his hands as the highly opinionated superstar has hungered for world domination ever since she won the Miss World pageant a few years back. As if Priyanka’s ambitious plans were not enough, she also wants husband Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers to run for President in the United States, if that’s what it means to lead a change in America.
Priyanka stated: “I would love to run for Prime Minister of India. I would love Nick to run for President. I don’t like the things associated with politics, but I know that both of us really want to make a change. Never say never,” as previously mentioned in an interview with The Sunday Times.
The Baywatch star listed feminism as one of the motivating qualities that make her husband ideal for the role of future President. Priyanka says that Nick shows no hesitation to “use the word”. To elaborate her point, the 36-year-old shared a story from when she first started to date the American band member.
“One of the big moments when I thought, ‘Oh, this guy is different,’ was early on when we were on a boat with friends. I had a meeting to go to and kept saying, ‘If someone gives me a reason to cancel, I will.’ He pulled me aside and said, ‘Listen, I see that you want me to tell you to cancel, but I won’t. You’ve worked hard to be where you are. I’ll take our friends for dinner and wait for you. When you’re finished, come back and join us’,” she gushed.
Priyanka found Nick’s approach, similar to a breath of fresh air. “I don’t think I’ve ever been with someone who is self-assured enough for me to be in the spotlight and for him to be okay with it. As women, we’re normally the ones who have to say, ‘Yeah, I can move that appointment,’ or ‘What you did at work today was amazing.’ That’s what made Nick so different,” she added.
In the month of May, the happy couple both attended The Met gala hand-in-hand, fully embracing the unique theme Camp: Notes On Fashion and adhering to a quirky dress code. Priyanka recently explained that the event was enjoyable because of Nick’s presence. She said she believed she was in attendance with her ‘best friend’, but admitted their first time at the event in 2017 as a couple was in fact ‘so awkward’.
‘We didn’t know each other,’ she told People Magazine. ‘We were vibing.’ No one would have guess that two years later they would be married, definitely not Priyanka, as she has realised she misread him when they first met: ‘I didn’t think that this is what it [would’ve] turned out to be, and that’s maybe that’s my fault, I judged a book by its cover.’
