Two men have appeared in court in relation to the murder of aLeicesterkebab shop owner.

Wali Khan, 31, from Afghanistan and 27 year old Naveed Naveed, fromPakistan, appeared in Leicester Magistrates courts, charged with the murder of businessman Dogan Dogan.

The body of the 50-year-old Turk was found above the Aladdin kebab takeaway on 8 January, inLinton Streetin Evington,Leicester.

Both men were arrested on 19th January and spent two days in police custody before being charged with murder.

It is believed that the pair suffocated Mr Dogan before taking his money from the flat.

Crown prosecutor Julie Facer told the court how the victim was found face down in the flat above the shop by one of his employees.

She said that evidence showed that the death was brought about by suffocation.

It was believed that Mr Dogan’s flat stored all the money from his kebab shop and a second takeaway business, the Pizzaman in Lutterworth.

When police visited the premises to carry out a forensic search, the money was not found.

Defence solicitor Oliver D’Sa, representing the pair, said that Mr Khan and Mr Naveed plead not guilty.

He said, “Both men emphatically protest their innocence and they will be given the chance to tell the side of the story in Crown Court.”

The trial has been adjourned until a further date and will be carried further carried out at the Crown Court.
